When this Maui-based client, a contemporary jewelry designer, relocated to Oregon, we needed to adjust the website I had designed for her previously* to reflect her new locale, while retaining the minimalist aesthetic. While Hawaii still shows in her work, the new approach needed to reflect the influences of her new woodsy home on her jewelry creations. But how to balance the serene, sun-drenched tropical Maui vibe with the leafy, misty deep tones of Oregon?

In order to keep the new design budget and timeline -friendly, I kept some of the pacific sea colors, while adding in some foggy grays and raisiny mauves (the latter already present in her existing branding) and updated the copy.

The result is an elegant visit “from island to woodland.”

I added to the homepage a subtle slider showing products against both the original Hawaiian themed backstretch image and a new image of open her her newer products against Oregon grapes. The result is an elegant visit “from island to woodland.”
